Coreea de Sud se reorientează spre cărbune, pe fondul unei posibile crize de gaze la iarnă generate de conflictul din Orientul Mijlociu

South Korea plans to increase coal usage this winter due to disruptions in liquefied natural gas (LNG) supply caused by Middle Eastern conflicts. The government aims to balance immediate energy needs with long-term climate goals, emphasizing a shift towards nuclear and renewable energy sources. Minister Kim Sungwhan highlighted the necessity to reduce LNG consumption while addressing the financial pressures on the state-owned utility company, KEPCO, which faces significant losses from rising energy prices. Despite the short-term reliance on fossil fuels, the ultimate goal remains to decrease dependency on imported fossil fuels and transition to greener energy solutions.
