The South Korean government plans to relocate around 350 public institutions from Seoul to Sejong by 2029, aiming to reduce Seoul's dominance. This initiative includes establishing a presidential office in Sejong and constructing a new National Assembly building by 2033. The relocation is part of a broader strategy to address population concentration and demographic decline in other regions. The government will prioritize moving larger agencies and intends to amend laws to facilitate the relocation of currently excluded ministries. Additionally, 109 public institutions will be restructured or dissolved to enhance efficiency.
