North Korea has built a new uranium enrichment facility at Yongbyon and expanded operations at Kangson, according to the IAEA. The agency's report indicates ongoing nuclear infrastructure development in multiple locations. Satellite images and open-source information were used to monitor these activities, as IAEA inspectors have not been present in North Korea since 2009. The new facility at Yongbyon can accommodate up to 28 centrifuge cascades. Additionally, operations at the Kangson site reportedly began in January 2024. The IAEA expressed serious concerns over these developments, which violate UN Security Council resolutions. North Korea has repeatedly rejected the IAEA's authority, asserting its status as a nuclear-armed state.
