A co-pilot of FlyDubai attempted to crash a flight into Tel Aviv's airport on September 30, but was thwarted by the captain. The UAE Attorney General revealed that the co-pilot's plan was inspired by the September 11 attacks. Investigators found he had familiarized himself with the flight route through previous trips. The incident caused a rapid descent of 16,000 feet in 30 seconds. The co-pilot had previously worked for various airlines before joining FlyDubai in January 2026. Saudi Arabia has launched a separate investigation into the incident.
