Copiii victime ale abuzului, în centrul unui proiect național: DGASPC Sibiu, printre instituțiile participante
The number of reported child sexual abuse cases in Romania has more than doubled in one year, with only one Barnahus center operational. Save the Children urges immediate action to protect minors. In 2025, over 50,000 reports of child sexual abuse materials were recorded, significantly increasing from the previous year. Authorities documented 1,712 child victims of sexual abuse, with a notable number of cases in Sibiu County. The Barnahus model aims to provide a supportive environment for child victims, reducing the need for repeated testimonies. However, many local child protection agencies lack adequate facilities and resources. Authorities are called to expedite the establishment of additional Barnahus centers by 2027 to ensure comprehensive support for affected children.
