The European Commission has proposed the EU KIDS Act to enhance online safety for children. It prohibits social media accounts for those under 13 and requires parental supervision for ages 13 to 15. Special accounts with limited features will be created for younger users, while those aged 15 and above can create their own accounts. The act emphasizes age verification without sharing personal data and mandates platforms to ensure child-friendly designs. It also introduces measures to limit addictive features and enhance privacy for minors. The proposal is currently under review by the European Parliament and Council.
