In Bucharest, children will no longer be able to rent electric scooters as a new project restricts usage to individuals over 18. The project, set for a vote, mandates age verification through ID scanning for each rental. If a user is underage, the scooter will not activate. Additionally, new traffic rules will prohibit users from using phones or wearing headphones while riding, and they will not be allowed on sidewalks. Riders can only use bike lanes on roads with a speed limit of 50 km/h or less. Recent statistics show over 240 children were hospitalized due to electric scooter accidents in the past six months, with 8% being under 10 years old.
