Controverse privind plăcuţele bilingve din Sfântu Gheorghe: Asociaţia 'Calea Neamului' a organizat un protest

A protest organized by the 'Calea Neamului' Association took place in Sfântu Gheorghe against the mayor's plan to display bilingual street signs. Despite the city's unfavorable stance, participants, including MP Dan Tanasă, criticized the local administration's decision to deny the protest. Tanasă emphasized citizens' rights to protest anywhere in Romania. The association's president, Mihai Tîrnoveanu, opposed the local government's plans for a permanent exhibition that he claims promotes anti-Romanian propaganda. The mayor, Antal Arpad, stated he would comply with a court ruling on bilingual signs but would integrate the old signs into a future exhibition. UDMR leaders expressed solidarity with the mayor, urging an end to provocations that could disrupt interethnic harmony.
