The matrimonial convention allows couples to choose from three regimes: legal community, separation of property, and conventional community. The separation of property means each spouse retains exclusive ownership of their assets. The matrimonial convention must be notarized to be valid and can be established before or during marriage, affecting property management and division in case of divorce.
