Lavinia Păune, former accountant at Romania's Foreign Intelligence Service, was sentenced to three years and one month in prison for falsifying payment records. The court found her guilty of multiple offenses, including abuse of office and forgery, involving 176 fraudulent payment documents. She was also barred from holding public office for four years. The investigation revealed that she embezzled over 8 million lei over 16 years, making illegal payments to individuals not employed by the agency. The case is not yet final, and an appeal can be made to the Bucharest Court of Appeal.
