Romania needs to radically change its highway funding approach in the next decade, relying more on public-private partnerships. Guido Retter, CEO of RETTER Group, emphasizes that at least 70% of funding for major road projects should come from the private sector. He cites failed projects in Romania as examples of the need for better preparation from both public and private sectors. Retter argues that the state must clearly define its financial contributions to attract private investors, who will only invest in economically justified projects. RETTER Group is currently involved in significant infrastructure projects, including sections of the A7 and A0 Nord highways.
