Construction activities in Romania surged by 13.9% in the first half of 2026 compared to the previous year, indicating strong economic growth. Adjusted for working days and seasonality, the increase was 11.7%. Major growth was seen in capital repairs, new constructions, and maintenance works. Specifically, capital repairs rose by 25.9%, new constructions by 20.2%, and maintenance by 15.7%. Engineering construction grew by 24.2%, non-residential buildings by 19.8%, and residential constructions by 10%. In June alone, construction volume increased by 20.1% compared to May, and by 19.9% year-on-year. The residential sector saw a remarkable 43.9% increase compared to June 2025, while non-residential buildings and engineering constructions also experienced significant growth. This trend follows a strong performance in 2025.
