The Competition Council reports that major fuel operators complied with the price cap on fuel margins from April to June 2026, but further clarifications are needed for Petrotel, Lukoil, and Nis Petrol due to incomplete data. The analysis shows that reported margins did not exceed 2025 levels for most companies, while ongoing checks are required for discrepancies. Additionally, the Council is monitoring fuel price trends, noting a recent drop in diesel prices following a tax reduction. Despite a subsequent price increase, diesel remains cheaper than before the tax cut. Comparisons with EU prices indicate Romania's fuel prices are competitive.
