The Competition Council has fined Agrana Sales & Marketing GmbH, Agrana România SRL, and Lucsor Impex SRL a total of 52.09 million lei for anti-competitive practices in the sugar market. Agrana companies received a fine of 42.18 million lei, while Lucsor Impex was fined 9.91 million lei. The investigation revealed that these companies colluded on pricing strategies, leading to higher sugar prices than would occur in a competitive market. Agrana admitted to the violations, resulting in a reduced fine. The Council emphasizes that such agreements violate competition laws and harm consumer interests.
