The Competition Council has fined 21 companies in the seed and crop protection market a total of 83.2 million lei for price-fixing agreements. Major producers like Pioneer and Corteva were involved in setting resale prices through contracts and voucher systems, impacting farmers' purchasing costs. The Council emphasized that while voucher systems are acceptable, they should not lead to fixed prices. The largest fine was imposed on Agrii, followed by Pioneer and Corteva. Agricover received immunity after applying for leniency, while 15 other companies acknowledged their wrongdoing and received reduced penalties.
