Consilierii locali și cei județeni nu mai pot fi angajați la stat

Local and county councilors in Romania can no longer hold public sector jobs simultaneously due to a new law. This law, effective from August 9, 2026, mandates that those in such positions must choose between their elected role and public employment. Exceptions are made for teachers and researchers, who can maintain both roles. A 15-day deadline is set for affected individuals to notify their employers about the suspension of their public contracts. Failure to comply may lead to disciplinary actions and evaluations of incompatibility by the National Integrity Agency.
