Condamnarea de cinci ani a lui Sorin Blejnar, anulată după ce a executat jumătate din pedeapsă. CAB a constatat prescrierea faptelor
The Bucharest Court of Appeal has definitively annulled the five-year prison sentence of former ANAF president Sorin Blejnar for influence peddling, citing the statute of limitations. Blejnar had already served approximately two and a half years before being conditionally released in October 2021. The court's decision does not equate to an acquittal but acknowledges that the state can no longer impose a penalty due to the expiration of the legal timeframe. Blejnar was initially sentenced in 2019 for accepting a 20% commission on public contracts, with the prosecution alleging he received over 12 million lei. This ruling follows a previous annulment attempt in 2023, which was rejected.
