The 20th edition of the George Enescu International Competition concluded successfully, celebrating nearly seven decades of its existence. Held from August 23 to September 19, the event featured renowned conductor Zubin Mehta as honorary president and Cristian Măcelaru as artistic director. A record 819 candidates from 58 countries participated, with 150 selected for live performances. The opening concert showcased works by Diego Santamaria, Dan Dediu, and George Enescu, while the final concert highlighted compositions by various contemporary composers. The competition awarded prizes in symphonic music, chamber music, and originality, with notable winners from China and France. The event also included masterclasses and performances by distinguished musicians, enhancing the cultural exchange and artistic excellence.
