The Senate has approved a bill granting single-parent employees at least three additional days of paid leave annually. This amendment to the Labor Code aims to support single parents who bear full responsibility for child-rearing. The proposal received 86 votes in favor and will now proceed to the Chamber of Deputies for final approval. The additional leave is not deducted from the standard annual leave. Although the Legislative Council issued a negative opinion, it does not hinder the legislative process. The initiative is seen as a necessary measure to alleviate the burdens faced by single parents without imposing financial costs on the budget.
