The Senate approved a USR legislative initiative to extend leave and compensation rights for those accompanying adult cancer patients to include medical investigations. The project received overwhelming support, with 106 out of 107 senators voting in favor. It aims to amend the existing law to allow caregivers to take leave for accompanying patients not only during surgeries and treatments but also for medical check-ups. USR representatives emphasized the need for support throughout the medical process, highlighting the challenges faced by cancer patients in accessing healthcare services. The initiative seeks to address existing inequalities in legislation and provide financial relief for caregivers during difficult times.
