Bucharest Transport Company (STB) plans to lay off 800 employees as part of an efficiency strategy, with voluntary departures available for up to 200 staff. The voluntary departure application period is from July 22 to July 27, offering six average salaries as compensation. The remaining layoffs will follow social plan criteria and pension eligibility. Union leader Vasile Petrariu emphasized the need for careful management of personnel, especially in critical roles, due to ongoing staff shortages. The restructuring aims to reduce administrative staff from 14% to around 8%. Negotiations for a new collective labor agreement are expected to begin in September, amid concerns over salary alignment with minimum wage.
