Romanian companies are under investigation for allegedly violating EU sanctions against Belarus by attempting to transfer industrial equipment with military applications. Authorities conducted 12 searches across several regions, targeting individuals suspected of facilitating this illegal transfer. The investigation centers on a vertical lathe valued at 1.75 million euros, intended for a sanctioned Belarusian entity. Evidence suggests that the equipment was modified for military use and that third-party companies were involved to obscure the final beneficiary. Despite denied export licenses, operations reportedly continued. Eight suspects are currently under prosecution, maintaining their presumption of innocence during the legal process.
