Croatian company INA, part of the Hungarian MOL group, has successfully launched its new Delayed Coker Unit (DCU) at the Rijeka Refinery, marking a significant milestone in its modernization project. The DCU began operations on September 1, 2026, achieving around 70% of its designed capacity. This unit enhances the refinery's ability to process heavier crude oil into higher-value products, potentially increasing diesel output by up to 30%. The modernization project, costing nearly 700 million euros, aims to improve energy security and operational flexibility. INA and MOL Group have invested a total of 1.3 billion euros in refining and logistics infrastructure over the past 12 years. The project is expected to bolster profitability and support local community development, while also contributing to green transition initiatives.
