The Oradea Water Company was fined 40,000 lei for polluting the Nimăiești Valley with hot, ammonia-laden water, killing fish. Analyses revealed water temperatures of 40°C and ammonia levels exceeding legal limits. The pollution resulted from a likely sewer malfunction, mixing wastewater with stormwater. Following the incident, cleanup efforts began, and the company will be held accountable for intervention costs. The local ecosystem is already stressed due to drought, complicating recovery efforts.
