ABB has been selected by Ansaldo Nucleare to upgrade the control and safety systems of Unit 1 at Romania's Cernavodă Nuclear Power Plant, extending its operational life by 30 years. This project aims to ensure reliable, low-carbon energy supply, as nuclear power contributes significantly to Romania's electricity production. The upgrade will implement ABB Ability System 800xA, enhancing operational reliability and cybersecurity. The collaboration between ABB and Ansaldo Nucleare is expected to improve safety and performance, addressing the growing energy demand while supporting a stable energy system in Romania.
