Comisia „România fără violență” continuă până în 2028

The joint special committee of the Romanian Parliament dedicated to preventing and combating domestic violence will continue its work until 2028. This extension was approved to finalize ongoing initiatives and propose new legislation. The committee has been analyzing domestic violence trends, applicable laws, and institutional responses, holding debates and consultations with various stakeholders. A significant achievement is the adoption of Law no. 53/2026 on femicide, which introduces stricter penalties and a national prevention mechanism. Parliamentarians emphasize the need for the committee's continuation due to the complexity of the issue and the necessity for ongoing evaluation of measures taken by authorities. The extension will be submitted for approval to the Parliament's joint plenary.
