Comisia Europeană respinge impunerea unui impozit comun în UE asupra profiturilor excepționale realizate de companiile energetice, idee susținută de mai multe state puternice ale blocului comunitar - Economica.net
European Commissioner for Economy, Valdis Dombrovskis, reiterated the EU's refusal to implement a tax on exceptional profits of energy companies due to price hikes from the Middle East conflict. Several member states, including Spain and Germany, have requested the Commission to consider such a tax, previously applied after Russia's invasion of Ukraine. Dombrovskis emphasized that individual member states are better positioned to impose this tax nationally rather than a common EU tax. He mentioned the establishment of a working group to study the issue and share best practices. German Finance Minister Lars Klingbeil argued for the tax as a means to lower energy prices, urging the Commission to take action.
