Comisia Europeană pune sub lupă legea decarbonizării adoptată de Parlament: „Orice risc privind nerespectarea angajamentelor poate atrage consecințe financiare”

The European Commission will assess amendments to Romania's decarbonization law to determine their impact on the country's energy sector reform commitments under the PNRR. The amendments condition the closure of coal plants on the availability of low-carbon alternatives, which may jeopardize the fulfillment of milestone 114. The Commission emphasizes that the law has not yet been promulgated and will evaluate the amendments before making a final decision. Currently, there are no immediate concerns regarding Romania's energy supply, and the Commission is in continuous contact with national authorities. Additionally, milestone 119A requires Romania to shut down 710 MW of coal capacity, with the decision on which units to close resting with Romania.
