Comisia Europeană propune modificarea Directivei privind nitrații pentru reducerea costurilor fermierilor • Newsweek România
The European Commission has proposed changes to the Nitrates Directive aimed at reducing farmers' costs and dependence on chemical fertilizers. This initiative seeks to enhance the resilience of EU farmers against price shocks caused by geopolitical instability while promoting nutrient cycling and agricultural autonomy. The proposal allows member states greater flexibility in using certain liquid digestates from manure, ensuring environmental protection. These nutrient-rich alternatives could safely replace chemical fertilizers. Stakeholders, including farmers and civil society, are invited to provide feedback on the proposal until November 13, 2026, before it is submitted to member states and subsequently to the European Parliament and Council for approval.
