Comisia Europeană pregătește o nouă rundă SAFE de circa 20 de miliarde de euro. România ar putea cere finanțare suplimentară - CORESPONDENȚĂ DE LA BRUXELLES

The European Commission plans to launch a new call for approximately 20 billion euros under the SAFE instrument for defense investments by member states. This funding is primarily due to reduced requests from Italy and Hungary. Romania, already allocated 16.7 billion euros, must decide whether to apply for additional funds. The new round is a redistribution of remaining funds from SAFE 1, not a new instrument. The Commission aims to redirect these funds quickly, potentially supporting joint projects with Ukraine's defense industry. Romania's focus includes developing cost-effective drone defense capabilities. The call is expected to be launched this year, requiring member states to submit updated plans for funding consideration.
