The European Commission is in ongoing discussions with Meta regarding its compliance with the Digital Services Act, following previous findings of addictive design in Facebook and Instagram. Meta has reached an agreement with several U.S. states, involving an $18 billion payment and commitments to enhance protections for minors. New measures include a daily limit of two hours on both platforms for minors, night mode restrictions, and notifications for excessive usage. Additionally, Meta will disable filters related to cosmetic surgery and hide reactions to posts for minors to mitigate harmful beauty standards.
