The European Commission is closely monitoring the energy situation in Romania, Hungary, and Bulgaria due to low Danube water levels affecting nuclear energy production and river transport. While prepared to convene the Electricity Coordination Group if necessary, the Commission currently sees no risks to energy supply security. The spokesperson emphasized that nuclear energy remains a reliable and clean source, despite challenges posed by extreme weather conditions. Additionally, the Commission is working towards eliminating Russian oil imports from the EU market, while Hungary and Slovakia currently benefit from negotiated exemptions.
