The European Union has warned member states about a potential energy price crisis linked to the Middle East conflict, urging governments to reduce demand and fill gas storage before winter. Commissioner Dan Jorgensen highlighted the EU's reliance on fossil fuel imports, which exposes it to market volatility. Gas prices have surged since the Iran conflict began, impacting competitiveness and prompting calls for government action to support citizens facing rising bills. Current gas storage levels are only about 70%, below the seasonal average of 86%. Jorgensen suggested utilizing regulations to lower storage targets and implement measures to reduce gas and electricity demand.
