The Cernavoda Nuclear Power Plant is preparing for a controlled shutdown of Unit 2 due to declining Danube river flow. Romania has been in an energy alert since August 1, following the closure of one nuclear unit and reduced hydroelectric output. The government is urging citizens and businesses to voluntarily reduce electricity consumption and is implementing safety measures to manage energy supply effectively.
