The European Commission has issued delay letters to Romania and 25 other member states for not fully transposing the EU Directive 2024/1788 on hydrogen and decarbonized gases. This directive, part of the EU's hydrogen and decarbonized gases package, updates market rules and establishes a regulatory framework for hydrogen infrastructure. Member states were required to notify the transposition by August 5, 2026, but only Italy has complied so far. The Commission has given the remaining states two months to respond and complete the transposition, or it may issue a reasoned opinion against them.
