The European Commission has approved a €11 million state aid scheme for Romanian pig farmers affected by rising fuel and fertilizer prices due to the Middle East crisis. This aid, valid until December 31, 2026, aims to alleviate the financial burden on farmers from March 1, 2026. Grants will be based on increased production costs, with a maximum of €50,000 per enterprise. The scheme complies with EU state aid rules and is designed to support the temporary development of the pig farming sector without negatively impacting trade conditions.
