The European Commission and SpaceRISE consortium have finalized an agreement to implement the IRIS2 satellite constellation, adding 66 satellites to enhance connectivity for EU governments and emergency services. The project aims for operational capability by 2029, with a total of 348 satellites planned. This expansion will significantly improve security and resilience in response to evolving threats. Member states are already investing in the program, with Poland, Hungary, and Spain committing substantial funds. The initiative is expected to foster innovation and support critical missions across Europe.
