Comisarul pentru Drepturile Omului al Consiliului Europei salută ”intervenția” DIICOT la azilele neautorizate operate de Viorel Pașca în Bihor

The Council of Europe’s Human Rights Commissioner, Michael O’Flaherty, commended DIICOT's intervention in unauthorized elderly care facilities in Bihor, urging thorough investigations into related deaths. He called for significant reforms in Romania's elderly care system, highlighting its serious vulnerabilities. Despite acknowledging DIICOT's recent actions, he expressed concern over the prolonged tolerance of such situations and the online hostility faced by journalists exposing these abuses. O’Flaherty emphasized the need for integrity in judicial proceedings regarding the Dumbrava cases and criticized the Romanian system for treating elderly individuals merely as service beneficiaries rather than recognizing their full citizenship rights.
