Comisar European: Conflictul transnistrean nu va reprezenta o piedică în procesul de aderare a Republicii Moldova la UE; Vasile Tofan discută la Bruxelles despre extindere şi securitate

Valdis Dombrovskis, the European Commissioner for Economy, believes unresolved economic and territorial issues in Transnistria won't hinder Moldova's EU accession. He stated that the integration process could aid in gradually resolving the conflict. Dombrovskis emphasized that Moldova's energy independence efforts are already underway, and the EU membership process will create economic and political leverage for reintegration. He cited Cyprus as a precedent, where unresolved territorial issues did not prevent EU membership. Moldova applied for EU membership in March 2022 and was granted candidate status in June 2022. Prime Minister Vasile Tofan is currently in Brussels for discussions on Moldova's EU accession and cooperation with the EU.
