Romania's wholesale trade has seen a significant decline, with a nearly 7% drop in business compared to last year. Although there was a month-to-month increase in July, the annual figures reveal a stark contrast. The National Institute of Statistics reported a 6.9% decrease in wholesale turnover compared to July 2025, despite a 8.7% rise from June 2026. The growth in July was mainly driven by agricultural products and live animals, but overall, the sector has struggled throughout the year, remaining below last year's performance. The negative trend is evident in the first seven months of 2026, with varying impacts across different sectors.
