Colesterolul și tensiunea arterială pot fi „ucigași tăcuți”. Comisia Europeană propune programe gratuite de screening
The European Commission has proposed a recommendation for regular checks of blood pressure, cholesterol, and blood sugar, especially for high-risk individuals. Cardiovascular diseases are the leading cause of death in the EU, with around 1.7 million fatalities annually. The Commission emphasizes that up to 80% of these cases could be prevented by addressing risk factors like hypertension and obesity. Less than half of EU countries currently have cardiovascular screening programs. The initiative is part of the 'Safe Hearts' plan aiming to reduce premature cardiovascular deaths by 25% by 2035. Health organizations are offering free screenings to promote awareness and reduce inequalities.
