The Romanian Parliament has approved amendments to the Road Code allowing motorcycles and scooters to use bus lanes. This legislation enables motorcycle and moped riders to navigate public transport lanes under specific conditions set by road administrators. It also introduces measures to ease traffic flow, such as allowing these vehicles to move between or alongside stopped vehicles at traffic lights and railway crossings. Additionally, a new safety space for motorcycles and mopeds at intersections is defined. Other amendments permit bicycles and motorcycles to overtake stopped vehicles at red lights if safe. Local authorities are tasked with creating infrastructure for pedestrians and two-wheeled vehicles. The initiative is welcomed by the motorcycling community, emphasizing benefits like reduced travel time and lower fuel consumption.
