Greece is preparing for its first heatwave of the year, with temperatures expected to exceed 40 degrees Celsius in several regions. Meteorologist Theodoros Kolydas indicated that this heat episode will particularly affect central Greece and Athens from Monday to Wednesday. The national meteorological service forecasts temperatures between 40 and 41 degrees Celsius for the upcoming days. This late heatwave follows a cooler June and strong winds in July, which delayed the onset of extreme heat. It marks the third occurrence since 2011 of such high temperatures this late in the summer season.
