The National Emergency Committee is implementing a phased emergency plan to ensure water supply for the Cernavodă Nuclear Power Plant due to expected low Danube levels. The first phase involves positioning vessels to direct water towards the canal, while the second phase includes modular barriers. If these measures fail, high-capacity pumps will be activated. The plan aims to maintain safe operations at the plant amid extremely low river levels, with funding from the Ministry of Environment's reserve fund. The decision was published in the Official Gazette after the plant was completely shut down on August 13 due to record low water levels.
