CNSAS has resumed investigations into Lucian Pahonțu, head of SPP, following recent journalistic inquiries. Mădălin Hodor confirmed that the council is seeking information from former security archives to determine Pahonțu's past involvement with the former Securitate. The investigations focus solely on whether he was a collaborator or employee of the Securitate, not on other public claims about his actions during historical events. Hodor also clarified that Pahonțu did not submit a required declaration regarding his collaboration status when he became SPP chief in 2005. He contradicted Nicușor Dan's claims about official requests for verification from CSAT, emphasizing that CNSAS operates independently in these matters. The current checks are more detailed than previous ones from 2008, aiming to clarify Pahonțu's role in the Securitate.
