The invasion of Czechoslovakia on August 20-21, 1968, marked the suppression of liberalization efforts led by Alexander Dubcek through military intervention by Warsaw Pact members. Romania, despite being a signatory, refused to participate and criticized Moscow's actions. A document from CNSAS reveals insights from a Romanian delegation present during the invasion, which was initially in Czechoslovakia for a tactical exercise. The delegation faced restrictions from Soviet troops and was unable to contact the Romanian embassy. They eventually reached Prague with the help of Czechoslovak military personnel. The operation was well-prepared, with Soviet officers conducting reconnaissance disguised as tourists days prior to the invasion.
