CNAS: Cartea Electronică de Identitate nu devine obligatorie pentru serviciile medicale de la 1 septembrie • Newsweek România

The National Health Insurance House (CNAS) announced that the Electronic Identity Card (CEI) will not be mandatory for medical services starting September 1, 2026. The national health insurance card will continue to be valid during the necessary adaptation period for IT systems. CNAS has provided technical specifications for developers to ensure interoperability with their systems. Providers are encouraged to update their applications accordingly. The implementation of new functionalities will occur gradually as systems are updated, allowing sufficient time for providers to adapt their infrastructure.
