CNAIR has received over one billion lei through the PNRR for road safety projects, including pedestrian crossing improvements and traffic calming measures. The agency is launching its first independent road safety campaign in 35 years, focusing on high-accident areas like DN1 and DN2. Recent measures have led to a 42% reduction in serious accident victims, with hopes to meet EU targets for reducing road fatalities by 50% by 2030. The e-Sigur program aims to enhance enforcement through speed radars that send fines directly to offenders, contributing to significant social cost savings.
