The construction of the Boiţa 1 tunnel on the Sibiu-Piteşti highway has reached 45.11% completion after both galleries were pierced. The Turkish contractors have finished tunneling, with further work on the interior lining underway. Other tunnels in the area are also progressing, with over 700 workers on site. However, only 45% of the total planned work can proceed due to pending environmental agreements. The entire section spans 31.33 kilometers and involves the construction of seven tunnels using the NATM method, with a total contract value of 4.25 billion lei.
