Petrolul Ploiești appointed Ricardo Sousa as head coach following a strategic shift towards integrating youth players from their academy. Claudiu Tudor explained that Sousa's experience with young talents and his knowledge of the Portuguese market were key factors in the decision. The club has also significantly reduced its player salary budget from 190,000 to 130,000 euros per month, aiming to develop homegrown talent. After ten matches, Petrolul is currently fourth in the Superliga, four points behind the leader, Dinamo.
